If you spot a large wheel-shaped web in the garden, chances are it was put there by an orb weaver. This particular green orb weaver is typically found outdoors, but can enter the home. While the venom of these spiders is related to that of a black widow, they are not dangerous to humans and the effects are minimal. While bites are rare, if bitten you’ll most likely experience a small area of redness and swelling with minor pain. Orb weavers are beneficial garden predators.

“Our house was under a full military assault from black crickets and fire ants, I guess trying to find shelter for the winter. The technician came out promptly and started treating every crack and crevice that could hold or transport a cricket or fire ant. I admire his work ethic and skill. We were charged a fair price and were very satisfied (I think I would have paid double)”
